Yes, I’m definitely jet lagged something awful. The first day I fell asleep at 3 in the afternoon and woke up at 10 in the evening (scarily reminiscent of something I did on the day before an exam a couple years ago, after helping set up our camp at Roskilde festival). Yesterday I managed to stay awake through the “crisis hours” of 1 to 5 in the afternoon and didn’t go to bed until 10 in the evening. So, woke up at 4 in the morning, took a bath (no queue – jet lag does have its advantages) and went to UTS, grabbing some breakfast along the way. I’ve been unable to locate a decent 1 liter carton of yoghurt or similar, so I buy a couple of the “snack size” small plastic cups. I’m considering switching to milk-based breakfast (like carbon-based lifeforms; only whiter, vegetarian and more dead), but I’ve been unable to find müsli either, and I’m not about to start eating Coco Pops or Wheetabix after one year of consistently healthy nutrition. Ah, decisions, decisions…

I’ve gotten wireless access at UTS (thanks to the kind help of an IT supporter named Bruce, no less), so this is the obvious place for me to go to work on my project (or distract myself by blogging). I went to the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) yesterday and found a computer graphics lab, which I would like to gain access to. The problem is that the letter from the exchange office allows me to be in the computer labs (satisfies the security guards), but does not help me open the doors :) I was asked if I was lost (probably looked the part) by a student who directed me to a professor who heard my case (I’m actually taking a course that should grant access). He said they ordinarily don’t allow the students in the labs outside the semester, but he gave me the name of the professor in charge, and said that if I could convince that guy, then he would help me. Turns out I can’t even get to that guy’s office without a Student ID card, the lack of which is in fact the reason why I need to go there. In order to understand recursion, you must first understand recursion. Oh well… At least the Atrium cafe in the building had some very nice Italian food served by just the right “Mama Mia” type little ladies :)

By the way – as you can tell, I got my room and although a bit barebones it is actually ok. I’d still have liked a power socket in the wall, or maybe even wifi internet access. But UTS provides that, so no worries, and Maze seems to have the cheapest single rooms by a large margin.

Hej Martin!
Tak for sidst, meget meget hyggeligt!

Sounds like a Catch-22 to me 8)
